The Orville, a new 1-hour comedy series dubbed by many as a Star Trek parody, finally debuted this fall on FOX. Created and executive produced by Seth MacFarlane (Family Guy), the 13-episode series follows the adventures of the U.S.S. Orville led by MacFarlane’s Ed Mercer. Aboard on this vessel are the human and alien crew who must face the wonders and dangers of outer space while they deal with the mundane, personal relationships of their coworkers.
The Orville debuted strong with a 2.3 rating and was watched by 7.3 million viewers. While it showed potential in amassing solid viewership, the critics were not so happy about MacFarlane’s own comedic take on the scifi classic.
But if you’re like us who are still keeping our fingers crossed for The Orville, welcome to the club. The Orville’s premise has the potential to be a hit for FOX and it’s up to MacFarlane to turn the odds in his favor.
The Orville may have gotten mixed reviews from critics and fans, but that’s not saying that it is not a show worthy of a binge. If you’re a Trek fan who’s just looking to get a good laugh, might as well stick with this series. And just in case we are right, let’s talk about if you can stream The Orville season 1 on Netflix.
Is The Orville streaming on Netflix?
As of September 2017, a long list of FOX produced TV shows are still on Netflix’s library. But some of these titles are expected to leave soon and move to Hulu. On the case of The Orville, Netflix has not yet acquired rights to stream episodes of the Trek comedy from FOX.
For now, we’ll just have to wait whether Netflix will choose to add The Orville in their library. We’ll update this post once the official announcement has been made.
